BRUCE MOLSKY
(USA)

Bruce Molsky

One of the most influential old-time fiddlers around, and a remarkable  guitarist, banjoist and singer. In May 2001 America's Association for Independent Music chose Bruce Molsky's Poor Man's Troubles as Traditional Folk section winner in their annual album awards.

His high-spirited music melds the archaic mountain sounds of  Appalachia, the power of blues and the rhythmic intricacies of traditional African music.

Among the long list of great players with whom Bruce has performed and recorded are Martin  Hayes, Darol Anger, Alasdair Fraser, Mike Seeger, Paul Brown, Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer  and The Waverly Consort. His solo recording Poor Man's Troubles (Rounder) received  great praise by the Washington Post, Washington Times, Bluegrass Unlimited and others, and  Lost Boy (Rounder) has become a staple for old-time music enthusiasts everywhere.  His latest album, Contented Must Be (Rounder), has been even more enthusiastically received.

Fiddle playing which 'combines precision and abandon so  perfectly that it raises the hairs on the back of your neck' - (Sing Out!)

'I can't  believe how great a musician Bruce is.  His talent is positively frightening.'  - Mick Maloney
