Tryst

Three of the finest exponents of the original musical glories of Scotland - harp, pipes and song - meet and combine in timeless interpretations of their traditions, old and new.
Featuring the voice and guitar of Rod Paterson, Wendy Stewart`s harp and concertina playing and Gary West on small pipes and whistles.
Tryst are a superb trio of musicians ideally suited for Festivals and that special folk club or arts centre gig.

Rod Paterson is probably the finest Scottish folk singer of his generation, celebrated as a performer of traditional song, notably for his unequalled interpretations of the works of Robert Burns and the songs of Scotland generally. He has a marvellously expressive voice and is an impressive guitarist.

Wendy Stewart toured extensively in the band Ceolbeg, has released two solo albums and is in great demand as a teacher at harp courses in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and North America, not to mention all around Scotland.

Gary West began to play a prominent role in the folk music scene in the late 80s, joining Ceolbeg in 1988, and becoming a founder member of the Scottish 'supergroup' Clan Alba in 1991. He has played in major festivals throughout Europe and North America, while his performances have been heard in some of the finest concert venues in Europe, such as the Old Opera House in Frankfurt, the Albert Hall in London and the Tonhalle in Dusseldorf.
Gary is in regular demand as a recording artist, having played on over twenty CDs, and he currently presents the Radio Scotland weekly piping show, Pipeline.
